This project combines aspects of the DAMM model, and the microbial C and N cycling model MCNiP to make seasonal predictions of heterotrophic respiration. The repository can be found here and is published in JGR Biogeosciences with an accompanying Editor's Highlight and a press release. In 2021, DAMM-MCNiP parameters were constrained using a Bayesian statistical framework. The lead author, Mustafa Saifuddin, used simulated data to identify which new measurements would best constrain DAMM-MCNiP parameters. DOC/N was most informative on top of heterotrophic respiration. This paper is open access and I hope to see more data-driven constraints like this for other microbial/C&N/soil model parameters!
