New paper "A global map of root biomass across the world's forests" published in Earth System Science Data

In this study, Yuanyuan Huang uses a dataset of over 10,000 field measurements of forest root biomass to estimate the main environmental factors that influence the root biomass and the root:shoot ratio. She then develops an estimate of global root biomass. The manuscript is accessible here, and the datasets and global maps generated are publicly available in a figshare repository here.
