New paper "Uncovering the Past and Future Climate Drivers of Wheat Yield Shocks in Europe With Machine Learning" published in Earth's Future
In this study, Peng Zhu used machine learning and game theory to quantify the drivers of wheat yield anomalies in Europe from 2018-2020, finding that most low yield anomalies are driven by water limitation. Projections of future yields under RCP4.5 and 8.5 suggest a future shift in drivers of low yield anomalies from water limitation to extreme temperature. This open-access paper can be found here.
